Engineering Futures, a STEM education initiative established in 2019 and supported by L&T, has been successful in transforming teaching and learning processes into a collaborative, project-based activity. Through the initiative, we have been providing participating schools with Teaching & Learning Material (TLM kits) focusing on Science and Maths concepts to enhance conceptual learning and strengthen learning outcomes. Over the years, students have demonstrated their creativity and innovation by building working models and showing greater engagement with STEM subjects.
L&T’s sustainability efforts, like many of our projects, can also be on a ‘mega’ scale. An ambitious afforestation campaign, 'Project Green Hands', driven by ÑÇÖÞAV kicked off on 15th August with a target of planting 1.5 million trees over a period of 2 weeks. The saplings selected represented a wide spectrum of tree species, carefully chosen to promote biodiversity and enrich regional ecosystems.
Infrastructure augmentation in schools, both in urban and rural communities, is one of the action areas of L&T’s CSR programme.
L&T’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion means we are focused on enabling young girls and women through better access to STEM education through our CSR activities too.
Spotlight on an L&T CSR education project in partnership with Light of Life Trust (LOLT).
L&T-MHI Power Boilers Pvt Ltd (LMB), has been executing CSR projects in the vicinity of its head office at Faridabad in the National Capital Region, workshop at Hazira in Gujarat and several project sites across India. Recently LMB constructed a state-of-the-art OPD block at the Urban Health Centre (UHC) at Faridabad’s Sector 21D.
L&T’s focus on harnessing innovation and technology-driven solutions to address social needs was the spark that initiated our STEM Education Project ‘Engineering Futures’ - the Project aims to create and expand opportunities for all children to access the kind of education that will enable them to navigate and lead in this technology-driven era. To operationalise and implement this project, L&T’s CSR teams are collaborating with NGOs the American India Foundation (AIF), Navnirmiti Eduquality Foundation and Don Bosco Institute of technology.
Deforestation and forest degradation are the major contributors to global warming and climate change today. To help restore some of these fragile ecosystems we at L&T are proactively taking steps through tree plantations and urban forests in our campuses. L&T campuses undertook an extensive programme to improve the forest cover in urban areas across a total of four locations within Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
